PURGATORY HOUSE

Written by and starring 14-year-old Celeste Davis, this compelling fantasy is a living, breathing snapshot of how it feels to be a teen in today's world. PURGATORY HOUSE chronicles the after-life journey of  Silver Strand; a lonely teen who has abandoned her troubled life of drug addiction with boyfriend Sam (Johnny Pacar ABC’s Make it or Break it /NBC’s Flight 29 Down) only to find herself caught somewhere between Heaven and Hell. There she must choose whether she will accept her drab existence, or finally discover within herself the power to change. Her guides along the road to self-enlightenment include a wry Saint (Jim Hanks), a motley group of fellow teen souls condemned to the Purgatory House, and God herself.

WINNER of 12 Festival Awards, and 2-time PRISM Award Nominee, this critically acclaimed debut from director Cindy Baer was hailed by Film Threat as “a charming, touching, clever and all-around brilliantly crafted film.”  Written by a high school freshman and created with miniDV cameras and home-based computers in 2001, PURGATORY HOUSE marked the beginning of the digital revolution. From what it reveals about the struggles that plague today's youth, to the grassroots technologies that created it, PURGATORY HOUSE is uniquely a sign of our times.
